The association mourns for Dietrich Schulze
On August 4th, 2023, the initiator and co-founder of the association, our honorary member Dietrich Schulze, died at the age of 98.
Since 1979, Dietrich Schulze had a close friendship with Maria and Renate Reiche. Shortly before her death, Renate Reiche asked him to write a biography about her famous sister.
Dietrich Schulze worked on this book for almost 15 years, which was published in 2005 under the title
"Bilderbuch der Wüste".
Dietrich Schulze was the association's secretary for many years; he built the Maria Reiche Archive, which is now located in the Romain Rolland High School in Dresden.
We will remember Dietrich Schulze as a wonderful person and a very active member of our association.
Abenteuer Nasca -
Auf den Spuren von Maria Reiche
The exhibition "Adventure Nasca - In the footsteps of Maria Reiche" can be seen at the HTW Dresden as part of the Dresden Long Night of Science.
Date:30. Juni 2023, 18 Uhr bis 24 Uhr
Location: Seminargebäude der HTW Dresden, Friedrich-List-Platz 1
At 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. there will also be two lectures on the topic by Christiane Richter (each 30 minutes long).
120th birthday Dr. Maria Reiche
On May 15, 2023, the celebration of the 120th birthday of Dr. Maria Reiche took place in the high school Romain Rolland.
The highlight of the celebrations was the performance of the play "La Dama de Nazca"
"Gestures of Horizon"
"Gestures of Horizon" transforms the museum space into a poetic landscape full of mystery and undiscovered history. Inspired by the work of Maria Reiche the piece
invites the visitor to explore the making and preservation of art and the transformation of artwork and perception.
Date: May 6th, 2023 8-11 p.m. | May 7th, 2023 2-5 p.m.
Location: Museum of fine Arts Leipzig, Katharinenstraße 10
The play "LA DAMA DE NAZCA"
The play "LA DAMA DE NAZCA" premiered in Cusco/Peru in 2019 and then went on tour through 9 cities in Peru and Argentina. In 2021 the staging was awarded as
Proyecto Cultural del Bicentenario 2021 and celebrated its premiere in Berlin in December. The play was performed in Dresden for the first time in April 2022.

The association mourns for Nicola Klaiber
On 18 December 2018, the actress Nicola Klaiber died after a short, severe illness. Only a few months earlier, she planned to go to Peru with her play
"I'm not a lady, I'm an old cane", which was premiered in Dresden in 2014.
Unfortunately, the fulfillment of this dream will no longer be possible.
We will remember Nicola Klaiber as a dear friend and an active member of our association.

Truck driver plows into
the archeological site of Nasca
The Nasca Lines were damaged when a rig plowed into the ancient site on Saturday, 27th of January in 2018, the country's ministry of culture said.
The authorities found deep tire marks across an area of 50 meters by 100 meters in the site's grounds and damage to three geoglyphs.

Greenpeace activists are damaging the World Cultural Heritage
Monday, Dec. 8, 2014: Greenpeace activists walk towards the historic landmark of the hummingbird in Nasca. They displayed the message "Time for Change:
The Future is Renewable" which can be viewed from the sky during the climate talks in Peru.
The president of the Maria Reiche Internacional Association, Ana María Cogorno, termed the campaign a "damage of the World Cultural Heritage"
during an interview with RPP Noticias.
