Introduction

The lines and geoglyphs in the pampa of Nasca in Peru have already fascinated many people since its discovery in the 20th Century and as many theories came about this. Especially the astronomical calendar theory has the most agreements, which says that the purpose of the lines and figures consisted of the rising and down points of celestial objects.

The aim of this diploma thesis was to develop a technologically sophisticated application for the check of the calendar theory in a higher level. With an initial examination of some lines was the application SoMoPlan proved to its practicality.

With the program it's possible to check the Nasca lines in terms of their possible astronomical alignment to the sun, moon and planets so that the calendar theory will be strengthen or refute.
